We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated WordPress developer to join our rapidly growing digital marketing agency based in the heart of Birmingham’s Colmore District.
As our new WordPress Developer, you will play a pivotal role in our team, contributing your expertise in website builds on WordPress. Experience with App builds for IOS and Android would be an advantage.
We are looking for excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of the digital and design industry with a curious nature to stay on top of services and solutions for our clients. Someone who can produce technical and functional specs and perform as a consultant to help guide and support our clients.
This role will sit part of a close-knit development team specialising in a multitude of programming languages including React, React Native, Java, PHP, Laravel and more. A team who thrive from learning and helping one another.

Key Responsibilities:
Website Development:
The core responsibility of this role would be to build WordPress websites that have been designed internally by our design team. This would include custom developments and building custom plugins to suit the requirements of the project/website.
Website Maintenance:
Oversee the regular maintenance and updates of our clients mainly WordPress websites, ensuring optimal performance, security, and functionality.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise, ensuring minimal downtime for clients. Build up strong relationships with our clients along the way and be a safe pair of hands for understanding our clients set ups.
Client Projects:
Collaborate with our project managers and creative teams to deliver high-quality web solutions to clients with ownership of the final delivery sign off.
Act as the supporting lead in client meetings, discussing project requirements, timelines, and technical solutions. Good understanding of Technical Architecture and best practise
Proposal Development:
Occasionally assisting with project timings to support our New Business team to ensure all projects and scopes are accurate prior to onboarding.
Quality Assurance:
Implement and maintain best practices in code quality and standards to ensure the delivery of high-quality work. Testing and Quality Assurance are of a high standard and implement and define this key stage of the project lifecycle.
Skills and Experience
Proven Front End Development
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and PHP
- Strong knowledge of front-end frameworks
- Experience with responsive web design and mobile-first development
- Understanding of web performance optimisation
- Experience with third-party API integration
- WooCommerce and related plugins trouble-shooting and development
Proven Back-End Development:
- Ability to produce custom plugins to suit functions and features required for the project.
- Database management and design, including SQL and MySQL databases.
Server and Hosting:
- Understanding of setting up and configuring web servers
- Understanding of deployment and hosting on platforms
API Development:
- Very good understanding and use of WordPress API’s
- The ability to integrate existing API’s into WordPress
- Experience with API documentation tools
Security:
- Awareness of web security best practices and common vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top Ten).
- Implementing security measures in both front-end and back-end code.
Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting:
- Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
- Logical and critical thinking skills.
- Staying up-to-date with the latest web development trends, technologies, and best practices.
